Principal's Message

Welcome back to all our returning families and a special welcome to all new families joining us this year at Bayshore P.S. Bienvenue à tous! I am thrilled that students and staff are returning to in-person learning for the new school year! There’s nothing like being able to learn together and see each other in person.

I am very proud of all the work that went into making last school year successful! By working together, families and staff were able to keep the school safe, keep the joy of learning as well as learn to problem-solve and overcome obstacles. Our students developed great tech skills, improved their independence and demonstrated resiliency by continuing to learn despite having to wear a mask, social distancing and getting used to a number of new protocols.

For the 2021-2022 school year, our priority is to keep students and staff safe. This means that most of our safety protocols that were in place last year will continue to be in place for the month of September. To ensure safety, some of our regular activities will continue to be modified at the start of the year, things such as assemblies, virtual trips and extra curricular activities. As the year progresses we will re-evaluate and introduce new measures. Safe measures such as daily screening, cohorting, social distancing, hand hygiene, wearing masks

will remain in place.

As a principal, I feel very fortunate to be working with such a dedicated staff, a team of close to 50 caring staff members who are committed to help your child achieve her/his potential academically, physically, mentally and socially.

I always say Bayshore is a special community, not only in a physical sense but also in the close knit relationships amongst families and school. We are home to almost 300 students from very diverse backgrounds. We believe that celebrating our differences, as well as our common interests, helps unite us and makes us a family of learners.

My work as a principal:

As an educator for over 24 years, I have held different roles in various boards of education as a teacher, an instructional coach and an administrator. I am a strong believer in the power of education. In the words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” I have always seen my role twofold: teaching students how to learn and helping each student become a positive contributor to our society. A saying that I often repeat to Bayshore students is “Make a difference in your community”.

Educating children is a shared responsibility amongst all adults who are in the sphere of influence of each child.  I look forward to working with you to ensure that each student at Bayshore P.S. is receiving the best educational experience possible.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me at the school if you have any questions or concerns.

(613) 829 - 8698.

I wish all of our students  and their families a year filled with great learning! Let’s all make a difference in our community!

Yours truly,

May Tannous,
Principal, Bayshore P.S
